Description of an object- Edomnt Hotel Room

Edmont Hotel room:
With mi smell, I could perceive a rank odor.
With my vision, I could perceive a shadowy, old and creepy-like room.
With my hearing, I could perceive a quiet place, no birds and no sounds to be heard.
With my sense, I could perceive a palpable sense of fear. I could perceive the bed sheets being all old and scrubby.
I couldn´t sense anything with my taste.

Holden

Holden is a 16 year old boy. I actually dont’t like the way he thinks. He hates everyone and everything. I get this sense of hate. Everything seems miserable. It seems like he doesn’t want to live any more. Holden is a hater. His attitude towards life is the worst. He doesn’t care about what others think of him. And sometimes he is really sincere and his comments are really harsh.

Challenges

A difficult moment in my life was when I had to choose between going on a cruise with my best friends from school or going to a dance competition in New York with my dance friends. I love to be with my best friends from school. When we get together we have so much fun. Imagine going on a trip with them… But I also love dancing and being with my dance friends. When I dance I feel free and I love those moments. Deciding between two different things I love was really difficult. But there was one thing that made me do the right choice. Going on a cruise with my best friends from school was one in a lifetime experience. In contrast, I have dance competitions every year. So that year, I decided to go to the cruise and I will never regret what decision I took.

Is Holden a typical teenager?

For me, Holden is not a typical teenager. Teenagers are happy and they enjoy life, well most of them. Holden is not one of them. He hates life and he is always talking crap of everyone surrounding him. He doesn´t enjoy life. It seems like if he has the option to die today he wouldn´t mind. Instead of being like an old man, he should enjoy himself more. He should enjoy the opportunities he has and make something from himself. All he does is criticize everything he sees and he is bitter. In conclsuion, in my opinion, he doesn´t act lika a typical teenager.

A Moveable Feast By: Marcela and Gaby

1. Lost means not vanished but disorientedwanderingdirectionless — a recognition that there was great confusion and aimlessness among the war’s survivors in the early post-war years.

2. Ernest used in his novel which was really famous so everyone could realize it.

3. Her contribution to American literature, however, is not in doubt: Scholars consider Stein an important innovator whose attention to language and questioning of narrative conventions influenced such writers as Ernest Hemingway and Sherwood Anderson. But even those who never read Stein’s works are familiar with Stein as a legendary personality. From the early 1900s, when she first arrived in Paris, until her death in 1946, she reigned at the center of a flourishing Parisian salon whose guests included Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, Edith Sitwell and Harold Acton, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thornton Wilder, and scores of other writers, artists, and musicians.

4. 27 Rue de Fleurus would be the first real and permanent home for Leo and Gertrude since leaving Oakland in 1891, and one that Gertrude would remain in for almost 40 years. Leo had become a collector of art and Gertrude was soon to follow. Their home became known as the “Salon” with paintings literally covering all the wall space in their modest living quarters…paintings by Picasso, Renoir, Gauguin, Cezanne, and many others overflowed into every room of the household.

Harlem Renaissance

James Weldon Johnson

– Johnsons’ anthologies provided inspiration, encouragement, and recognition to the new generation of artists who would create the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s. The poetry of Johnson, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and the works of people like W.E.B Dubois ignited the Harlem Renaissance.  Throughout the 1920s he was one of the major inspirations and promoters of the Harlem Renaissance trying to refute condescending white criticism and helping young black authors to get published.

– The Harlem Renaissance was actually really important for the cultural life in the US. It refers to the flowering of African American literature, art, and drama during the 1920s and 1930s. Though centered in Harlem, New York City, USA, the movement impacted urban centers throughout the United States. Black novelists, poets, painters, and playwrights began creating works rooted in their own culture instead of imitating the styles of Europeans and white Americans.

Trandenscendalism

1. Stronger: Kelly Clarkson

You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in color
And do the things I want

You think you got the best of me
Think you had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I’d come running back
Maybe you don’t know me, cause you’re dead wrong

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone
What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone

You heard that I was starting over with someone new
They told you I was moving on; over you

You didn’t think that I’d come back
I’d come back swinging
You tried to break me
But you see

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone
What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone

Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I’m not a broken hearted
Thanks to you I’m finally thinking bout me
You know in the end, the day you left was just my beginning

In the end

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone
What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I,
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone

2. Who you are: Jessie J

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh yeah yeah I stare at my reflection in the mirror
Why am I doing this to myself?
Losing my mind on a tiny error
I nearly left the real me on the shelf
No, no, no, no, no,no

Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart

Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody’s bruising
Just be true to who you are

Who you are, who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are, who you are no no no no no no
Who you are, who you are, who you are who you are who you are

Brushing my hair, do I look perfect?
I forgot what to do to fit the mold, yeah
The more I try the less it’s working, yeah, yeah, yeah
‘Cause everything inside me screams
No, no, no, no, no,no,no,no

Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart

But tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody’s bruising
There’s nothing wrong with who you are

Yes, no’s, egos, fake shows like whoa
Just go and leave me alone
Real talk, real life, good luck, goodnight
With a smile, that’s my home; that’s my home
no
No, no, no, no, no

Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart

Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody’s bruising
Just be true to who you are
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Favorite song

Happy

– It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

– Happy, clap along, because I´m happy, yeah

– This song has a great rhythm. It pumps you up. It is important to me because it changes my mood from sad to happy. If you feel down, this song will always bring you up. Happy is really famous right know too.

– Sometimes the repetition of the same words gets boring but it is easier for people to learn it. This will make the song more famous.

The House of Usher

Roderick and Madeline Usher: They are twins nd share a magic conection between each other. They were both mentally ill. Madeline accepted her disease and lived with it. Instead, Roderick was always searching for cures of his disease. He was desperate. They were creepy and think in a different way. They both look the same physicaly too.

Their house is simillar to their description. Roderick says that his house has been one cause of his illness. The house is creepy and it has cracks all over it. Like if it was separated in two. It symbolizes the twins.
